Every Beat Has a Story

I’m Selvan — father, educator, storyteller and creator behind Different Drumbeatz.
After decades of teaching in Singapore schools and supporting children with diverse needs, I realised one simple truth: every child — and every person — learns, grows and thrives in their own unique way.

Different Drumbeatz was born from that belief.

Here, I bring together my experiences as a teacher, father, YouTube creator and storyteller to build tools, guides, stories and videos that uplift, support and inspire:

  • Parents raising neurodivergent children

  • Educators working with unique learners

  • Youth and adults seeking motivation

  • Creators telling stories with heart

  • Anyone who believes in growth, compassion and lifelong learning

From autism-friendly digital tools to printable storybooks, sensory-friendly resources and reflective content — everything on this platform is made with care and purpose.

Welcome to the community.
And thank you for marching proudly — and confidently — to your unique beat.

Read Our Story

This is not a corporate wellness project. It's a parents' answer to a question they wished someone had handed them the day their daughter was diagnosed.

My name is [Your Name]. For over three decades, I had stood at the front of classrooms across Singapore — teaching children, training young educators, and believing that with the right tools, every child could find their way.

Then came home our daughter.

When my daughter was first diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, I remember sitting with my wife with a folder of clinical reports and not a single practical piece of guidance on what to actually do on a day to day basis. The reports told us what she was. They said very little about how to help her live well.

"My wife and I had years of teaching experience, and we still felt completely lost. We can only imagine how overwhelming this must feel for parents with no background in education at all."

So we figured it out — slowly, imperfectly, and together. We tried visual schedules drawn on printer paper. We built routines through trial and error. We adapted strategies from academic research and translated them into things that actually worked at the dinner table, on the bus, and at the supermarket.

Our daughter is now 27 years old. She lives a life full of purpose, connection, and joy. She is one of the greatest teachers we have ever had.

This website is what we wish had existed when she was young. Every tool here was shaped by real experience — both as professional educators and as parents who love their daughter more than any lesson plan they ever wrote.

---- Where it all began----

Educators by profession. A daughter who changed everything.

Our mission

To give every parent, caregiver, and educator practical, ready-to-use tools — grounded in real experience and genuine care — so that supporting a child on the autism spectrum feels less overwhelming and more possible, one ordinary day at a time.

Our vision

Championing neurodiversity through creativity, compassion, and practical support.

Three values we never compromise on.

What we stand for

Lived Honesty

Every resource we create is informed by what actually worked in real life - not just what looked good in a research paper - because families deserve tools that hold up on hard days, not only easy ones.

We believe every person on the autism spectrum deserves to be seen as a full human being with unique strengths, and every tool we make reflects that belief without exception

A beautiful resource that sits in a drawer helps no one — so we design everything to be simple enough to pick up on a Tuesday morning when you have seven things on your mind.

Quiet Dignity
Genuine Usefulness

There are other resources out there.
Here's what makes this genuinely different.

Why choose us

Created by someone who has lived it

Not a content agency. Not a brand with a marketing budget. Experienced Singapore educators and parents of 28 years - which means you get insight that no amount of research alone can replicate. These tools were built for messy kitchens, tired parents, and busy school mornings — not ideal classroom conditions. They work in the real world because they were tested there.

Thirty-plus years of professional teaching experience combined with the daily reality of raising a daughter on the spectrum - that combination is rare, and it shows in everything here.

Designed for real family life
Grounded in both education and parenting

We respect your time - and your intelligence. So here is a straight, honest comparison

Written in plain, warm language

Leads with the universal problem

No agenda beyond helping you

No clinical jargon. No guilt-inducing comparisons. Just clear, kind guidance from someone who understands exactly how overwhelming this journey can feel at the start.

Most autism resources are written for one culture and quietly assume everyone else will just adapt. This one was built with an awareness that family life looks different depending on where you live — and that the best tools flex to fit your world, not the other way around..

There is no pharmaceutical sponsor, no institutional partner, and no performance metric pushing content your way. Just one person trying to make your journey a little easier than his was
